The planned costs for the WBS element in project management with accounting integration can be calculated using several methods.
Cost Element Planning
This method involves entering planned costs at the WBS element level based on specific cost elements.
Easy Cost Planning
A user-friendly interface that allows for more detailed and flexible cost planning for WBS elements.
Activity Input Planning
Planned costs can be calculated by planning internal activities, where costs are associated with specific work or service.
The elements used for calculating planned costs at the task level in a WBS (Work Breakdown Structure) in SAP Project Management include the following:
Duration
The planned duration of the task plays a significant role in cost calculation. For instance, you plan a task duration and then associate resource costs with it.
Work
The planned work or effort, such as the number of consultant days, is critical. For example, you plan work in terms of units such as "consultant days", which are factored into the cost.
Resource Assignment
Resources assigned to tasks, like consultants, come with specific cost rates, such as an hourly or daily rate, and these are applied based on the assigned duration and work.
To configure financial planning for manual planning at the item level in SAP Portfolio Management, you need to follow these steps:
Create Financial Categories:
In Customizing for PPM, create the required financial categories, such as Primary Costs and Secondary Costs. You can further subdivide these into groups like Material and External Services.
Define Financial Views:
Configure four key views: Forecast Costs - Bucket Limit, Forecast, Planned, and Actual. Ensure the Forecast view is enabled for manual entry at the item level, while Planned and Actual are updated via integration with FI/CO.
Link Financial Categories and Views:
Link the financial categories and views to the portfolio. This ensures that manual planning is possible at the item level and that the FI/CO integration updates the Planned and Actual views.
Activate Financial Categories and Views:
Run the program /RPM/PLAN_INT_PREP to activate the financial categories and views in your portfolio if they are not displayed automatically.
